About the CompTIA A+ Core 1 Exam (220-1201)

Exam Format

The 220-1201 exam has a maximum of 90 questions including 3-5 performance-based questions (PBQs) that appear at the start. You have exactly 90 minutes. Questions are a mix of multiple-choice, drag-and-drop, and simulation types. The passing score is 675 on a scaled 100-900 scale.

Who Should Take This Exam

A+ Core 1 is the first of two exams required for CompTIA A+ certification. It's designed for entry-level IT professionals with 9-12 months of hands-on experience. It validates skills in hardware, networking, mobile devices, virtualization, and troubleshooting that IT support specialists use daily.

How Our Mocks Work

All 6 mocks are blueprint-weighted — questions are distributed proportionally across domains matching the official exam blueprint. 3-4 PBQs appear first in each mock, exactly like the real exam. Questions are seeded per mock so you get different content in each attempt without repeating.

Core 1 vs Core 2

Core 1 (220-1201) covers hardware, networking, mobile devices, virtualization, and hardware troubleshooting. Core 2 (220-1202) covers operating systems, security, software troubleshooting, and operational procedures. You need to pass BOTH exams to earn your A+ certification. Both are available here for free.
